Sam sent us a couple pics of her old man's restored '49 panhead. Other than a missing sergeant strip, this sucker looks awesome. Sam sez, We have a '01 Police Road King (that's his) and a '71 Servi-Car that we have almost completly restored. It needed everthing redone!) Waiting on the paint job to put back togther. But the panhead is the pride and joy." If you look closely behind Mike in the upper photo, you can see the Servi-Car on the left in the shop and the "PD" Road King (in white, of course!) on the right. |

Now I REALLY like this chopped and raked panhead. It's EXACTLY the kind of bike our bro' Tinker would build, but it's not his scooter. The deal here isand I'm embarrased to admit itwe have no idea who sent us these pics! Anyone out there have more info that we do? This is a slick lookin', old school-style bikeI like it! I've been tossing around an idea like this for a while. If I were to build a similar chop, I'd use the smaller 3.5 gallon tanks and run set of a mid-glide trees to make the fat 41mm tubes look even fatter by virtue of narrowing the front end. I'd also eliminate the sprung solo-and-pillion and run a countoured solo seat fill with a gel insert, and run disc brakes. But that's me. Whoever built this bike did a great job, and I bet it didn't cost 30 grand either. Just goes to show that you CAN build a nice bike and not have to mortage your soul. |
