1968 Ford Bronco - FOR SALE (Columbus, OH)

This 1968 Ford Bronco was a 12+-year frame-off project. It’s been on the road since April 2004. It is a four-owner truck. I have the original owner's manual along with the Ford factory shop manual and service/maintenance manual. The vehicle was bought new at Doan Ford in Morristown, OH.

There is a lot of information on this page. Please take the time to read the entire description -- no expense was spared. Everything is new or rebuilt. There are no more than 3000 miles on the vehicle, and of course it's always been garaged.

The main tub is fiberglass by Kentrol.  This is the best body you can buy—they’re not cheap.  It has the original steel dash, new steel inner fenders in front, a new OEM steel grille, steel tailgate, original hinged steel windshield frame and the original steel bumpers.  We steel reinforced the hood and it doesn't move or rattle. The door inserts were OEM for 1966-68 on Roadsters, or were available as an add-on for the pickup or wagon. (This truck is a “U” code wagon.)

There are a number of professionally-executed and subtle body mods on this truck, including the license plate mounts, modified glovebox door, shortened hood latch, flush taillights, etc. It was completely rewired using a new Centech harness.  The factory gauges are hooked up and all work.  Excess wiring was stowed cleanly where possible in order to add anything in the future.  It has intermittent electric wipers with a superb '86 Jeep wiper conversion. Unlike the OEM versions, these work.

The roof was custom built for me by Specialty Tops in denim blue to match the 1998-99 Ford Denim blue metallic paint on the body. As you can see it also has easy-to-remove doors for free-air cruisn'.

The truck rides on 33 x 12.50 B.F. Goodrich TA/KO tires mounted on Extreme Alloy 15x10 wheels. Suspension is a 3.5-in James Duff kit and a 4-in drop pitman arm. The fuel tank is a custom 23-gallon unit.  The frame was sandblasted and reworked so well you can see the factory frame code stamped on the front frame horns.  The radius arms, and front and rear axle housings were also blasted and finished to look like new.  It has Energy Suspension bushings, along with 4-degree polyurethane Duff caster bushings in front so it steers well.

The motor is a .040-over 170ci 6-cylinder, with a Comp Cams camshaft, Redline-Weber progressive 32/36 DGEV 2BBL carb w/ fuel pressure regulator assembly on the stock intake, Pertronix Ignitor electronic ignition in the factory distributor with matching coil, and Accel 8.8mm wires.  It has a single 2.5-in exhaust.  The radiator is new and cooled by a 16-in high-performance (almost 2400 CFM) SPAL fan. The 3-speed manual transmission was rebuilt and filled with Mobil 1 synthetic lubricant. Ditto for the Dana 20 transfer case.

Axles are Dana 30/Ford 9-inch with 4:10/4:09 gearing. Driveshafts have the newer style, and easy-to-find, Dana-Spicer U-joints. Both differentials are open style. The axles were completely disassembled and all new seals, axle bearings and wheel cylinders installed. Lube is Mobil 1 Synthetic.  Brakes are power-assisted drums, with new booster and master cylinder.  All brake lines are new stainless and braided pieces, and have been extended for the lift kit.  Emergency brake setup is all new as well.  Front hubs are from SuperWinch.

The interior features the original dash with a super cool factory-look modified glovebox door and new plastic liner. The truck's got new carpet, reupholstered seats, all new weatherstripping and seals where needed, rebuilt steering column, completely rebuilt heater with new motor, seals and heater core.  The full 6-point roll cage with halo and shoulder harness support bar is from ProtoFab. It uses custom aluminum diamond plate gussets to attaching it to the windshield for support. Seat belts are Simpson cam-locks. Underdash lighting is handled by 2-12-in high intensity blue neon tubes from Street Glow.

Music is courtesy of a high-power 50w x 4 Alpine head unit (AM/FM/CD) through custom speaker boxes that hold Infinity Kappa 3.5-inch 2-way speakers up front and Infinity Kappa 6x9 2-ways out back.  It sounds good! The unit also has a power antenna that is set up to be in the down position when you listen to CDs.

This truck gets many compliments and turns a lot of heads. You won’t pass yourself on the street driving this Bronco.  This truck’s about as close to 100% “right” as you can get, but everything can be tinkered with, depending on your desires.  It’s an attention-getter and looks great from any angle, at any distance. It’s not perfect, but your close scrutiny is welcome. I don’t have to make excuses for this rig.

I have a huge stack of photos that document the build, as well a pile of paperwork for the new parts, including manuals for the Alpine stereo, the Centech wiring harness, etc. to show how much I’ve invested in this superb example of an early Bronco. You can CLICK HERE to see in-process pages with many additional photos and text.

PRICE:  I don’t expect to get my money out of it, but I’m not giving it away either.  I'm asking $14,700. This is less than it would cost you for the parts to reproduce this truck to this level of quality. I want to move on to other projects, and frankly I don't have the room, so the Bronco's on the block.

If this is in your range, and you want an early Bronco of this caliber, get in touch.  I’m willing to consider a partial trade up to a value of $3000 (more or less). I'll consider Harley parts like transmissions or old motors (panhead, shovelhead, XL, etc.), Harley Sprint (Aermacchi) parts, modern firearms (revolvers, rifles, etc.), and so on. If you want to trade something, let's discuss. It doesn't cost to ask.

Thanks for looking. If you're interested and have other questions, emails will be answered promptly. The only request I make is please respect my request to not waste my time. If you want to see the truck, please be serious... unless you wanna pay for the pleasure! :-)

THANKS!
