Sprint 350 Project

The Engine’s Finished!

Another major aspect of this project has been checked off the list.  Kurt LeViere of Southington, Ohio—he’s the big guy in the photo below—came thru and delivered to us a ready-to-run engine.  The photo shows Kurt “delivering” the 350cc powerplant to the trunk of my car.

The rest of the  photos on this page show the result of Kurt’s handiwork, with Crazy Horse Speed Shop head and Super Fine Shine polished covers.

Confession time: The starter in the right hand photo below is a dummy.  The guts were gone, apparently the result of one of the previous owners getting royally pissed at the crappy quality of the bike’s Nippondenso starter.  It’s pretty much acknowledged that they had a habit of breaking down a lot, and finding new parts to rebuild them today is almost a lost cause. Interestingly enough, a local auto electric guy who was familiar with these things gave me an idea about using parts from a foreign auto planetary starter to update my starter. I’ve not investigated this yet, but the idea is intriguing enough that I’m gonna start hunting parts pretty soon. When I get the info, good OR bad, I’ll post it on these pages.
