The Old Days
by Shovelwolf
We were looked upon as
Hell-yuns
We were looked upon as rogues
because we rode on chopped machines
and lived by our own code.
Back then we were the bad guys
people judged us as no good
because we wore black leather
we were considered thugs and hoods.
Everywhere we went
the cops would be there
to check the numbers on our scoots
or to make comments about our hair.
They'd say our pipes were too loud
or our bars were too tall
and if we talked back to them
they'd put us against the wall.
In
little towns that we rode thru
people would gather and stare
like vigilantes they would come
to let us know we were not welcome there.
Mothers would tell their sons and daughters
to stay away from our kind
'cause we're nothing but trouble
with only one thing on our mind.
Those
who rode dressers
would not associate with our type
because we had been rebellious
and customized our bikes.
They would say that chopper riders
are giving them a bad name
and that we were unacceptable
and that we should be ashamed.
Now I look back on those
years
with smiles and memories
and it's hard to believe
we are now living in another century.
Yes, the scoots have changed alot
and the riders they have, too,
but some of us will never change
to the chopper we'll always be true.
