A Former “Copsickle,” Paul’s ‘89 FLHTP |
This unique ride began life as the former daily driver for a peace officer in Nassau County, Long Island. Paul was fortunate to snag it with 25,000 miles on the odometer, after which we got charged with updating its all-too-staid official looks. The futuristic, spaceship-styled scoot shown here is the result of months of hard work and 20 “big ones.” A quick look at the photos of this 1989 vintage bike, and you can see Paul’s money was well-spent. |

One of the items (or lack thereof) that gives this bike that wide, low look is the absence of a fairing or windshield, though Paul has a windshield that mounts with just 4 bolts. Then there are the 38-inch White Brothers Beach bars with Ness twirled billet grips. Twin mirrors are CCI Mirage units. The seat is a Saddlemen Leather Profiler with gel insert. Bags are stock Harley with built-in Pro One teardrop directionals. Protecting the rider and keeping with the theme are the custom Lindby safety bars. Up front, a polished dresser fork holds up the powdercoated 16-inch wheel and Avon Roadrunner tire, which is matched by a similar combination out back. Factory lighting guides Paul’s way through the darkness. Stopping this road warrior is sometimes necessary. That chore is handled using stock Harley calipers squeezing against CCI drilled and polished rotors. Brake fluid is held by polished Drag Specialties master cylinders. |

Although the frame was powdercoated, the rest of the bike is painted a beautiful basic black by a shop that shall remain nameless. All polishing was done in our shop by Eric, who was also responsible for final assembly. |
