Project Metamorphosis:
A Sportster for the New Millenium

Welcome to the introduction of this wide drive Sportster buildup.  We called it “Project Metamorphosis” because the transformation of this 1994 Sportster into a wide-drive softail bike will be pretty amazing.

The two photos on this page illustrate what owner Roland S. had for raw material, a righteous custom bike in every respect.  It hasn’t looked this way for long: we just did this bike in 1999!

The engine’s a 1200cc version that we reworked with the usual cams, ignition, carb, and exhaust mods.  The custom wheels are a 19-inch RevTech Stiletto in front and a 16-inch RevTech Solid out back.

Follow along as we turn this “nice” bike into a killer custom, complete with an 89-inch S&S Stroker kit!
