| Remember our friend "Clutch Cable" Lee, the guy with the custom
1995 Softail Springer, blue/purple paint,
and 89-inch motor? Well, we just finished a complete overhaul on his
already sharp-looking scooter, and turned it into a radical custom that
bears little resemblance to the original!
Lee kept some of the major components, like the springer front end, the wheels, tires and brakes, and the oil tank—and some of the frame—but the rest was totally redone or replaced! How did this all come about? That's an interesting story... Back in March of 2005, Lee dropped by the shop and expressed an interest in "freshening up" his bike with a new paint job and maybe a couple of other odds and ends. He said he didn't want to go crazy with this project because he likes to ride and doesn't want "just another show bike." The bike was already fast and maneuverable, and he wanted it to look "sexy." Oh yeah, and we had to "keep the cost down." Uh-huh... We've been down this path before with many of our customers, but Lee assured us that he would not drive up the cost by changing his mind or adding parts. Want to see how well Lee did? Keep in mind that the assignment was to repaint the bike, including the frame, and polish the motor. The next few pages will show you what really happened! |
